Efficiency is doing things right.
Effectiveness is doing the right things. - Peter Drucker
Though 2012 continues to be a tough year for so many, we have been overwhelmed by all of the ways people and organizations are finding not just to survive, but to thrive. Even in the midst of difficult times, we've seen our world come together to embrace the notion of what's possible. At Common Ground, it has caused us to become more innovative when it comes to the
services and assistance we can offer.
For example, Common Ground is now offering leadership coaching services to our social profit and civil society clients. Using telephone and internet video communications, we're able to help you solve tough problems without you having to incur ever-increasing travel expenses.
Of course, we'll still be on the road with you as often as necessary, but our hope is that this additional offering will meet some of your short-term or emergency consulting needs. It has been our experience that coaching can be especially effective when combined with our other organizational development services, making those processes much more efficient. Leading with Lollipops
We have all changed someone's life, usually without even realizing it. In this awesome TED talk, Drew Dudley calls on all of us to celebrate leadership as the everyday act of improving each other's lives. He believes--as we do at Common Ground--that leadership is not a characteristic reserved for the extraordinary. Rather, it's in each of us.
They Spoke to the World
For the past couple of years, we have had the pleasure of working with the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF). We conducted our S.T.A.R.T. process to help strengthen the organization and last year designed the inaugural SikhLEAD Leadership Academy based on Common Ground's Infinity Leadership Model. It follows on the heels of our many other global leadership programs.
Please click here to read a first-hand account of the academy from one of the participants.
Earlier this summer you probably heard about the tragic shooting which occurred at the Sikh Gurdwara (a Sikh congregational place of worship) in Oak Creek, WI. In what law enforcement described as an act of domestic terrorism, the attack left seven people dead and injured many more. Our thoughts and prayers have been with the Sikh community in Wisconsin and our many SALDEF friends and colleagues.
We're honored during this difficult time to have been asked once again to design and facilitate their youth leadership academy and participate in their national gala. In the spirit of Chardhi Kala (high spirits), we are looking forward to being a small part of their efforts to honor the memory of those who lost their lives and recognize the heroes who were born from the tragedy in Wisconsin.
